LISTENING ROOM
Join us for a special one-off edition of The Listening Room as we celebrate one of the greatest British albums ever recorded – Oasis’ What’s the Story) Morning Glory?
Released in October 1995, What’s the Story) Morning Glory? became a defining album of the Britpop era and one of the biggest-selling albums in UK history. Featuring timeless classics including Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova, Roll With It, Morning Glory and Some Might Say, it helped define a generation and remains as powerful today as it was on release.
The afternoon begins with a short introduction to the album, its creation, the rise of Oasis and its lasting influence on British music before we experience What’s the Story) Morning Glory? in full through our sound system – exactly as it was meant to be heard.
After the album, we’ll take a short break before opening the floor for an informal discussion about the music, favourite tracks, memories of the era and why the album continues to resonate more than 30 years later. We’ll round off the afternoon with Oasis favourites, songs from the wider Britpop movement and music inspired by one of the most influential bands of the 1990s until the close.
